What is checked
The agnosphere Fact Checker is fact-checking software for professional reports: it splits a report into its individual claims and checks each one against the source the report cites and against the open web.
Claims
Every factual statement in the running text: figures, dates, shares, growth rates, rankings, names, quantities, and what a cited source is said to say. A forecast is checked as what it is, a claim about what a source projects. Opinions and recommendations are not judged.
Charts and tables
Values are read from the exhibits and compared with the running text and with the sources. A chart whose bars say one thing while the sentence beside it says another is a finding. So is a table whose total is not the sum of its rows.
The document against itself
A figure that appears twice with two values. A headline that its own chart contradicts. A percentage that does not follow from the numbers it is computed from. These are checked without any outside source, because the document is its own evidence.
The verdicts
Every claim carries exactly one of four outcome words, on the desk, in the annotated report, and in the exports. Where the basis matters, a qualifier follows the word.

| Could not be verified · No evidence found | No source speaks to the claim, or the source the report cites does not contain it. |
| Could not be verified · Required source not accessed | The evidence that would settle the claim could not be reached. |
| Supported · Author’s own figure | The report is the only publisher of this figure. Nothing contradicts it, and nothing independent confirms it. |
| Supported · Matches exhibit | The sentence agrees with the document’s own chart or table. |
| Not checked | The check did not assess this statement. In a spot check, some statements are deliberately left out. |
Why a claim is not confirmed
A claim that is not confirmed always names the reason beside the word.

| Authors’ own assessment | The authors’ assessment, calculation or forecast was not independently verified. |
| Required source not accessed | The check did not access the evidence needed to settle the claim. The individual result explains any recorded access barrier. |
| Check not finished | The check of this claim did not finish. That says nothing about the claim. |
| Provisional result | The check reached a verdict but could not confirm its quotation against the evidence again. |
Languages and formats
Reports in English and in German. PDF, Word (DOCX), plain text and Markdown, or text pasted straight in. The findings come back in the language of the document.
Limits
One document per check; the size limit is shown at upload. Scanned pages without a text layer are transcribed from the page image, up to 40 pages per document. A transcription is a model’s reading of the page, so the link to the exact line can be less precise there than in born-digital text.
